If you liked the last two years, vote for Obama

I'm not one to recommend anything to McCain -- so let's say it's for anyone out there who is running for President (Bob Barr). The Democrats keep saying that McCain will be more of the same, that "if you liked the past 8 years, you will love McCain." The answer to that is: the economy was going great up until 2 years ago. Now what happened 2 years ago? Oh, that's right, the Democrats took both houses of Congress. Since then, the economy has slipped and oil prices have skyrocketed, causing gas prices to double in those two years. "If you liked the last two years, vote for Obama."

Now, you know better than that. When Bush first got in office, he inherited a economic tech bubble bursting. The Dems came in on an economic housing bubble bursting. You have to go back 2 to 4 years to see the effects on the Now economy. You taught me that.

I'm showing up the absurdity of their claims. However, prices are not affected quite the same. Policies can and do have an immediate influence on prices. How that effect translates into the overall health of the economy is another thing.

The housing bubble, btw, was in fact caused by a Democrat push for "fairer" housing loans -- to people who had no business getting loans. It is those defaults that burst the bubble. Admittedly, that sort of thing was years in the making, and in fact preceded Bush somewhat -- though to be fair, Bush also pushed for more home ownership as well.

On housing bubble, so did Greenspan and later the fed chair. On the Dems, I get your point.
