A Vague, Calculated Answer

While campaigning in South Carolina, Barack Obama said Hillary Clinton was giving "vague, calculated answers to suit the politics of the moment instead of clear, consistent principles about how you would lead America." Doesn't Obama know that if you speak from consistent principles that you will be able to be pinned down, meaning people will be able to criticize what you are saying, meaning your ideas will be challenged, and that will get people to think about what you mean by what you say, meaning you could lose votes? Vague, calculated answers are what you need if you want people to vote for you without knowing what you intend to do to, er, for them.
