Perhaps the French company Pernod Ricard, who just bought Absolut, should consider running a similar ad in Italy depicting the former outline of the Roman Empire -- France and all. I wonder how the French (or the Greeks, Turks, Syrians, Lebanese, Israelis, Palestinians, Egyptians, Spanish, British, etc.) would feel about that ad?
Of course, that might offend some Muslims, and everyone knows it is far, far, far safer to offend Americans than it is to offend certain Muslims. So I'm not going to hold my breath on that. The company's excuse that they didn't intend for Americans to see it is just as insulting as the ad itself.
